President and Founder
Carlos takam
Carlos Takam is a Cameroonian-French boxer, former world champion, internationally recognized for his exceptional career and commitment. Throughout his career, he has faced some of the biggest names in world boxing, collected titles from major federations – WBC, IBF, WBF, WBO – and left a lasting impression with his tenacity and humility. He also proudly represented Cameroon at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Born in Douala, Cameroon, Carlos has never forgotten his roots. Proud of his heritage and deeply connected to Africa, he now chooses to give back to young people what boxing has given him. Through the Carlos Takam Foundation, he puts his experience at the service of education, social inclusion, and development through sport.
As a WBC Ambassador and “Champion for Peace” for the organization Peace and Sport, he now fights another battle: one of hope, mentorship, and lasting impact. Outside the ring, with the same determination, Carlos Takam inspires, supports, and paves the way for a new generation of champions.
Having become an entrepreneur, he focuses on projects with strong social and economic impact, driven by a clear vision: to act where it truly matters. Over time, mentorship has become his driving force. The turning point came when he decided to take over his former primary school, Le Rebours, in Douala. Today, the school shines through its modernity, and the children fully benefit from it—a tangible way of giving back to the past what it gave him.
In the years leading up to the foundation’s creation, he also created the association Droit à l’Assistance, with the mission of providing real support to children and teenagers in Cameroon by supplying school materials and boxing equipment.
« When you have worked hard and well, and walked through that door of opportunity, you don’t slam it shut behind you. You go back and give others the same chances that helped you succeed. »
