Opening in 2026 in Remera, Kigali, the Carlos Takam Academy (CTA) is more than a sports facility. It is a home where athletes and community members grow side by side. Built on the values of discipline, respect, and confidence, the Academy links sport, education, and health under one roof with certified coaches, medical support, and a clear path from a first training session to international competition.
Here, performance meets belonging. From the neighborhood resident walking in for open gym hours to the young athlete preparing for a championship, everyone finds a safe space to train, learn, and feel part of a family.
The Carlos Takam Academy stands as a genuine center of excellence, a breeding ground for champions, committed to shaping the future legends of African sport: continental champions, world champions, and Olympic medalists.
Programs offered
Boxing, MMA, Judo, BJJ, Senegalese wrestling, Kickboxing, and strength and conditioning. The Academy also develops future coaches and officials, and offers mentoring, health, and nutrition support.
Who we serve
The Academy is first and foremost a home for young talents from across Africa, boys and girls who show potential, discipline, and heart. They receive not only world-class training and medical support, but also guidance to stay rooted in school, family, and community.
At the same time, the doors remain open to the wider neighborhood. Residents of Remera, students, and visitors can train in a safe and welcoming space where coaches are present and respect is the rule. Women and girls will find dedicated programs that give them the confidence to step into the ring—and into themselves.
What makes the Academy unique is this mix. Professional athletes, students, parents, and casual members share the same roof, the same values, and the same sense of belonging. It is more than a gym, it is a family that grows together.
The Academy fighters
Young talents from across the continent, aged 6 to 30, are rigorously selected in the field by our team under the leadership of the sports management. They are chosen not only for their athletic performance, but also for their discipline, teamwork, resilience, and their potential to embody values of leadership and commitment.
Our Academy Fighters are being prepared to become the next generation. They benefit from fully free support, training with an individual plan, education follow up, mental health care, and medical supervision. The goal is performance with balance, and leaders who carry the Academy’s values on and off the ring.
